Headboards for Period Homes

High ceilings, heritage colour palettes and designs influenced by era?  We’ve got just the thing for you.

Below are our recommended headboard and bed designs for your period home which will add the finishing touch to your period bedroom restoration or facelift – some with a modern twist!

The Eigg

Designed to show off a wonderful fabric and make the most of high ceilings, the Eigg Headboard is a showstopper.

Available in sizes Small Double to Emperor in over 150 of our fabrics or your own. It stands proud and starts from the mattress up and benefits greatly from being wall mounted for a ‘flush to the wall’ finish.

The Eigg’s piped edge makes for a smart outline in any colour material and can be customised to match or contrast your own material. It’s a great way to make a statement to your room.

Here’s how other customers have styled their Eigg’s:

The Samson

The Samson Headboard is one of our most popular headboards and it is easy to see why!

It provides a striking silhouette to almost any material and looks good plain as well as patterned. The Samson’s piped edge makes for a smart outline in any colour material and can be customised to match or contrast your own material.

A favourite with interior designers, the Samson speaks for itself.

The Puffin

The Puffin Headboard has timeless appeal.

Its shoulder ‘bites’ add just enough detail and makes in particularly well suited to a period home.  There is plenty of headboard to see above your pillows meaning a generous sized pattern fabric can be used.

The Puffin’s piped edge makes for a smart outline in any colour material and can be customised to match or contrast your own material. A favourite with interior designers, the Puffin is one of our signature headboards.

The Bryher

The Bryher Headboard is luxurious and feminine.

It features an ample, rounded border with an inset line of piping between the border and the centre panel to echo it’s shape. Have fun with your Bryher and have the border in a contrast material!  This is sometimes recommended for a very busy pattern where the mitred corners might disrupt the pattern.

The Bryher is a favourite with vloggers and bloggers and is often ordered for a period property with style. “Sheerluxe” recently featured the Bryher on their ‘Brands to Know’ segment.

The Easdale

The Easdale Headboard is the only deep buttoned model to feature in this round up of headboards best suited to a period home – and with good reason.

Best suited to a plain fabric, the Easdale combines the elegant look and feel of a deep buttoned headboard with a modern twist.  Its flat border surround adds an element of the contemporary – especially when trimmed with studs.

For extra ‘wow factor’, select the high heigh (115cm from the top of the mattress) for maximum impact. The Easdale is a favourite of our workshop manager, Damian, who designed it himself.  We also offer the Easdale as a full bed.
