A guide to the types of border detail you can specify for your headboard designs.

Back Tacked/Plain Edge
Can be self or contrast fabric and provides a crisp edge with no piping.

Self Piped Edge
A line of piping is added to the edge seam in the same fabric.
To make piping from fabric, we can usually find enough fabric from the waste so you need not send more than the quantity specified on the product page.

Contrast Piped Edge
A line of piping is added to the edge seam in a different fabric.
To make piping from a contrast fabric, we will need 1.3m – 2m depending on the model.
NB: Each model has its own quantity requirement for ready made/linear piping which MUST have a flange for application.

Fringe Edge
A line of fringe is added to the edge seam.
NB: Each model has its own quantity requirement for a fringe edge which is the same amount as the requirements for ready made/linear piping which MUST have a flange for application.

Inset Border
The headboard and border are split into two panels and can be upholstered in differing fabrics.
You can specify any width of border that you like.

Inset Piped Border
The headboard and border are split into two panels and a line of self or contrast piping is set between them in the join.

Inset Braid and Nails
The headboard face is embellished with a row of 15mm braid that follows the outline of the headboard shape. This braid is fixed using individual 11mm nails at equal intervals.
Nail colours available: Antique, Chrome, Brushed Black, Gold
Braid/tape colour options: Natural/Ivory
Please enquire if you would like to send your own braid to check its suitability.

Outside Border Return With Nails
The side of the headboard is covered in a contrast fabric which wraps around the headboard face to create a thin contrast border onto which 19mm individual spaced nails are applied.
Nail colours available: Antique, Chrome.
Fabric requirements: We will usually need 2m of contrast fabric to achieve this look on any of our models.

Studded Edge
11mm strip nails are applied to the face edge of the headboard/headend of the bed.
Nail colours available: Antique, Chrome, Brushed Black, Gold

Individual Nailed Edge
16mm or 25mm individual nails are applied to the face edge of the headboard/headend of the bed.
16mm Nail colours available: Antique, Chrome, Brushed Gold.
25mm Nail colours available: Antique, Chrome, Gold, Copper.

Pleated And Piped Border
A semi circle profile is applied to the edge of the headboard and the fabric is pleated around the profile. A row of piping is affixed in the gap between the border and the central panel.
This can be self or contrast piping. The pleated border can also be the same or different to the centre panel of the headboard.
Pleats can occasionally be substituted for a ruched or gathered border depending on the weight of the material being used.
