As I write, it is mid September. The wind is blowing a fierce gale outside and It’s occurred to us that the time has come to batten down the hatches and cosy up!
Here’s our 5 minute guide to making your bedroom a seasonal haven with a few quick change ups.
Mood Lighting.
Swapping your lamp and light bulbs to a warmer shade of white makes your bedroom more inviting as the evenings draw in. Therefore, swapping your bulbs out to one that is 40 watts or lower is a great start.
Choose a seasonal scent.
A reed diffuser placed in your room can lift your spirits. For extra cosiness, try a scented candle or two in your favourite seasonal scent. Be sure to extinguish your candle before you are too relaxed in case you fall asleep in your new soporific surroundings!
A Change of Bedding.
You’ll need a bit of extra bedding going into the colder months. Changing your duvet for a higher tog rating may be all that is required.
If you’re wondering what to do with your summer duvet and sheets we have the answer. The Headboard Workshop can make you a stunning end of bed ottoman, in your fabric of choice. Ottomans are a beautiful addition to your room and add a touch of luxury as well as being very practical.
Better yet, maximise your stashing space with one of our Super king Alderney Ottoman Beds. Most noteworthy because you can fit a wealth of stuff inside, out of sight, spare bedding included. We’ve written about the brilliant Alderney Ottoman Bed here along with a few other suggestions for maximising your storage space.
Adding a trendy chunky knit blanket or faux fur throw to neutral linen bedcovers and sheets your bed is also a quick and easy way to achieve a snug look.
Update your Focal Point.
For a more impactful makeover, consider a new headboard or headboard and matching bed combination in a welcoming fabric. House Chenille, Flat Velvet and Wool are our top three fabric suggestions for Autumn/Winter 2018. With many shades available, you’re sure to find your perfect colour. New season fabrics include luxurious dark blues teamed with copper and a superb palette of warming greys. This may take more than 5 minutes though (sorry!).

Gold.
Cosy, elegant and luxurious. Gold gives off warm vibes and looks stunning as it catches the evening light.
Simple touches such as gold studs around your new headboard is an easy way to incorporate some gold into your scheme.
Up your curtain game.
Billowing, light weight curtains are lovely for summer, but you’ll need to man up if you’re going to get through winter! Get yourself some heavy weight drapes. Incidentally, we love velvet curtains. All of our fabrics are available by the metre for a highly co-ordinated look and we’re more than happy to ship it directly to your curtain maker.
Last but by no means least – Rugs.
Get one. Obviously, you’re morning tootsies will thank you. There’s nothing worse than sliding out of your lovely warm bed onto a cold, hard floor on those frosty mornings.
