The headboard is generally the centrepiece of a bedroom, with everything else working around it. Getting the headboard right will completely transform your bedroom and should complement your existing or new décor as well as fitting in with your lifestyle habits.
Headboards come in all shapes and sizes, from dramatic designs through to simple and understated. We’re here to break it all down for you, discussing the different types of headboards available and how they could work for you.
Firstly, you must ensure you purchase the correct size headboard for your mattress and base. Most headboards are designed with popular bed sizes in mind, so check the dimensions to ensure your chosen headboard will fit perfectly with your bed. If you have a wall mounted headboard it can be slightly bigger, however if you have a floor standing headboard it will need to be the exact same size as the bed.
Plywood Moulded Struts
Most of our headboards come with plywood moulded struts. These traditional struts are placed in position and attached to the bed making it easy to move your bed about as and when you want to.
Wall Mounted
We offer wall mounting kits with many of our headboards. This means the headboard will not be attached to the bed and there will be no space between the back of the headboard and the wall. The mounting plate that is attached to the wall is a simple DIY job and should only take around ten minutes to fit. Once the headboard is fitted, it is easy to lift it down to clean or change the fabric.
Floor Standing
Some of our headboard styles are floor standing, this means they attach to the divan but stretch down the floor. If you choose a headboard that isn’t floor standing as standard, but you don’t want that gap between the divan and the headboard, we offer pillowstops. A pillowstop will hide the traditional struts and is edged and finished with a matching fabric, so the base of the bed and start of the headboard appears flushed and seamless.
Single Headboards
Our single headboards are available in a range of designs and fitting styles with something to suit everyone. Some of our designs, such as the Single Sanday Headboard, are floor standing and are created to attach to the back of your divan bed, however the majority of our headboards come with plywood moulded struts as standard. All of these headboards will come with the option of a pillowstop or wall mounting pack depending on the finished look you are aiming to achieve.
Designs vary from traditional to contemporary and, depending if you customise the finishing touches such as the buttons and piping, you can add a touch of modern elegance to any of the designs. With over 100 fabric options to choose from, there are endless combinations for each headboard design.

Double and 4ft Double Headboards
Treating your double divan to a beautiful upholstered headboard couldn’t be easier. Firstly, you need to select a design that will fit with your décor and the finishing touches you would like. From geometric padding and Swarovski crystals instead of fabric buttons, we have a huge number of different combinations that you can make unique to your own style. The Double Easdale Headboard allows you to customise the finishing piping and buttons!
If the headboard design you like isn’t floor standing, it will have plywood struts and you will have the option to add a pillowstop or wall mounting kit. If you like to have the freedom of moving your bed the headboard is best attached to your divan with struts or a pillowstop. However, if you choose a wall mounting kit, the headboard can be slightly bigger than the divan and bed as a whole.
King-Size Headboards
Your king-size bed should be fit for a king! We have a number of designs to add sophistication and luxury to your bedroom. Once you have chosen a model and design you like, you will have a choice of over 100 fabrics to choose from plus any finishes and your preferred height. Remember - the higher the headboard travels up the wall the more imposing it will be. The Kingsize Skye Headboard can be increased from the standard 30ins to 45ins if you want a grand appearance.
When selecting your add-ons, you will need to decide if you want your headboard to be mounted on the wall or attached to the bed. If you want it to be connected to the divan, you will have the option of a pillowstop to fill the gap between the base of the bed and the beginning of the headboard.
